Understand: FAQ: BaaS Migration
Preface:
This Article contains the most frequently asked questions about the migration process to our new Cloud Connect Platform. For technical considerations please read our Considerations & Limitations Article.
If you have any questions about these statements or an question not included here, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@anycloud.dk.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I have to move to the new Platform?
No, but we strongly advise to as this will increase backup performance. E.g. shorter time to finish the Backup Copy Job.
Where will my data be located?
The default data location will be in Germany.
Can we migrate data from current to New Site?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. However, we offer that you build new retention, on the new platform, at no additional cost for storage. This offer runs for 3 months, and it should therefore be possible to build up new retention in the meantime. If you currently have a retention on your Backup Copy Jobs that exceeds 3 months, you can simply keep your tenant on the current platform, and manage your current Jobs until you have built your full retention on the new Platform.
What actions do I as a customer need to perform?
Anycloud will provide each customer with their new login details for both Web Portal & VBR/Agent
Your next steps will be to:
Fill out any missing details in the Company Profile in the Web Portal.
- Add the Service Provider in the Veeam software.
For VBR please see: : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/cloud/cloud_connect_sp.html?ver=120
For VAW: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforwindows/userguide/howto_backup_to_cloud.html?ver=60
- Create a copy of your existing Backup Copy Job(s). Be mindful of job settings/retention. See Considerations & Limitations for details.
- Set the target of the new job to point to your new Cloud Repository
- Run you job(s) to confirm connectivity and success.
What about Data retention on the existing Platform?
Your data retention is always managed by you. This means that Anycloud does not delete any of your data. To manage your retention your jobs need to be running. If you just delete Jobs, data at Anycloud will not be deleted. Please be mindful of this.
What happens to my data/tenant on the existing Platform?
Per default: Nothing.
Your data retention is always managed by you. This means that Anycloud does not delete any of your data or your tenant without a direct request (and confirmation) by you.
Do you support Disaster Recovery (DRaaS) on the new Platform?
No. Currently the new platform only supports BaaS (Cloud Connect Backup). But fear not. DRaaS-customers will over the coming months also see a increase in transfer speeds when targeting the existing platform.
Is the current DK Platform End-of-Life (EOL)?
No. Currently there is no planned EOL on current DK Platform.
Do I need to have a specific version of the Veeam Software to use the new platform?
Yes.
- Due to the new Cloud repository, the tenant must run one of the following Veeam products:
- Veeam Backup & Replication 12 (or later)
- Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0 (or later)
- Veeam Agent for Linux 6.0 (or later)
- Veeam Agent for Mac 2.0 (or later)
In earlier product versions, object storage repositories used as cloud repositories are not displayed on the tenant side.
In general Anycloud follows the Veeam Support Matrix. For full overview please visit : [https://www.veeam.com/product-lifecycle.html](https://www.veeam.com/product-lifecycle.html)
Please keep you software updated for a bug free & secure experience.
What else do I need to consider?
